THE OVERTIME SPORTS INTRO TO SPORTS CLINIC for Kids with Special Needs
Overtime Sports is an organization that is looking to coordinate programs designed to expose children with disabilities to the world of sports.
All Sports – A fun exposure to a variety of sports to develop balance, movement and motor skills, in short 15 minute sessions.
We will use the buddy system to help the kids participate in all of the activities.
We will keep the groups small so all the kids will get the attention of the instructor on a personal level.
Our players will develop motor skills, establish physical activity, and gain confidence by participating in a variety of sports offered throughout the course of a year. They will learn basic skills, make new friends, and receive plenty of exercise. The skills will be taught in a safe, supportive atmosphere by certified instructors. The groups will be small and children will be able to compete in a team atmosphere, with coaches teaching them the skills necessary to play and succeed in the games.
It is a great way to get the kids out on the field running around and having fun.
Happily, Overtime Sports will give children with special needs the chance to play!
Involvement in sports can:
- Improve physical fitness skills in children with special needs.
- Build confidence and self-esteem, because children feel they are contributing successfully to a group.
- Lead to cognitive skill improvement by allowing them to discover and access strengths that cannot be challenged in a traditional classroom setting. The inherent structure of sports, with its organization and rules, can be used as a learning tool for introducing and practicing self-regulation and decision making skills.
